Varanus Sapien

For the Neo Age of Reptiles Project.

With higher primates extinct, skinks and monitor lizards quickly rushed in to fill the niche. The monitor lizard's intelligence gradually increased until finally reaching a human level, thus becoming Varanus Sapien. As intelligence increased, their methods on using their venom became more an more clever and sophisticated. Instead of charging after prey to deliver the venomous bite, Varanus Sapiens use venom coated projectile weapons (such as blow darts as seen in the picture above) to attack prey from a safe distance and while retaining stealth.

Although they preferably tend to walk in a quadrupedal manner like their ancestors, they are capable of walking in bipedal manner.
