The Silver Rod Snake is a newly evolved species of garter snake that is specially suited for life in buildings such as malls since they use their reflective silvery coloration to their advantage by pretending to be clothes hanger rods and wait for small birds to perch upon them. When a bird perches on it, the snake coils itself around the bird and bites it. Silver Rod Snakes will also hunt for slugs, earthworms, insects, leeches, lizards, spiders, amphibians, fish and rodents.
