Platodile

For the #Age-of-Avians project.

The platodile is the descendent of platypuses that dwell in Tasmania. It is a ferocious ambush predator that plays a role similar to that of Saltwater Crocodiles. The end of its bill is curved so that it can latch onto prey. Inside of the bill are several sharp teeth-like projections that are used for tearing flesh.

Platodiles lurk in lakes where they wait for unsuspecting animals who come to drink from the lakes. Whenever an animal comes near a lake that a Platodile is lurking in, the Platodile will lunge out of the water, grab the animal by its leg and drag it into the water to drown it. After killing it prey, the Platodile bites onto the dead animal and twists to tear it to pieces, much like how crocodiles eat.
