Description
Here's a vivid picture of one of our story's characters: Naja, counselor of Lady Tai-Huang Mei.
Species: Monocled Cobra (Naja Kaouthia)
Nationally: Currently Chinese; originally Nepali (thus the turban and bindi)
Accent: Despite being from Nepal, British, as typical of KFP villains.
Voice: Sounds like Jafar Try listening to this clip while looking at this picture, and tell me how you think it suites him.
Character Inspiration: Lord Shen, Scar, Cluny the Scourge (tail spike) and Jafar.
Occupation: Lady Tai-Huang Mei's counselor.
Personality: Externally—charming, charismatic, civil, servile; Inwardly—sly, deceitful, conniving, scheming, malicious, ambitious
If you remember the design of the Róulìn SteelClaw Army emblem (you can always look back at chapter 3 for a reference), I think you now have a good idea of what had inspired it. Those markings running down his back were also kinda inspired by the Chinese-writing-like patterns on Viper's back—his are Nepali words that translate (from top to bottom) as Naja (his name), Nāga (an old indic term used for serpentine deities), cobra, snake and serpent. He serves as Tai-Huang Mei's counselor, but is there more behind the service he provides his Lady than she suspects? What is the advice he provides her really leading to? And what happened to his fangs?
